The Notre Dame Human Neuroimaging Center is home to a state-of-the-art Siemens MAGNETOM Cima.X 3 Tesla whole-body MRI system, optimized for high-performance clinical and research imaging.

The system features advanced Gemini gradient technology, delivering a maximum gradient strength of 200 mT/m and a slew rate of 200 T/m/s to enable rapid, high-resolution imaging. With a 205 cm scan range and a 55 X 55 X 50 cm³ field of view, the Cima.X provides broad anatomical coverage suitable for a wide range of imaging applications. It supports high-channel imaging with up to 228 X 128 receive channels and incorporates Total Imaging Matrix (TIM) technology for flexible use of multiple receiver coils across extended fields of view.

For neuroimaging, the system is equipped with a 32- and a 20-channel BioMatrix Head and Neck coil featuring tilting functionality and integrated CoilShim to enhance B0 homogeneity. The Cima.X supports advanced data acquisition acceleration techniques, including simultaneous multi-slice, parallel imaging, and compressed sensing, and features Deep Resolve, an AI-based image reconstruction platform that significantly reduces scan time while improving image quality.

The center is supported by a registered MR technologist who oversees scanner operation and ensures participant safety. A dedicated mock scanner is also available to acclimate study participants prior to scanning, helping to minimize motion artifacts due to anxiety or claustrophobia.
